The AIOH is a fortunate organisation in that it promotes the noble, and very real pursuits, of health and wellness in the workplace.

Being fairly new at AIOH I have been most impressed with the culture of passion, focus and teamwork,… underpinned by team cohesion … and the overall organisational alignment for better performance and strategic execution.

As Helen Keller, the deaf and blind humanitarian said “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” What has also impressed me at AIOH is the people wanting to give something back to the profession that has impacted on their lives; to make a difference to the lives of others; to help the workplace environment; and/or to be part of a valued Committee team.

Our young hygienists are a particularly impressive group.

In the business world, emergent leadership is about team members taking the initiative to accept more responsibility and perform work outside of their general roles. If leaders encourage and promote this type of drive, our young team members will be ready to rise within the organization, and we will be better off for it.
