On the 1st September we will see the introduction of wide reaching Crystalline Silica Substance requirements for all Australian workplaces covered by the Model WHS Regulations. In anticipation, AIOH has launched new resources to help businesses comply with the updated silica safety regulations and enhance worker protection from dust diseases.

The new “Silica Hub” on the AIOH website offers a mix of practical advice for workplaces and technical guidance for AIOH members on topics such analytical methods for identifying crystalline silica, air monitoring for respirable dust, what makes dust controls effective and what workplaces need to know about respirators. These resources, developed by our own expert members are designed to simplify compliance and improve workplace safety. We hope members will find the Silica Hub are useful complement to the existing Breathe Freely Australia awareness materials developed for construction, mining, quarrying and engineered stone workers and welders.

I am pleased to announce that the Silica Hub resources are now freely available to our AIOH members and the wider community.
