Job Advertisement: Lead – Hygiene

About The Role

Due to business growth we have an exciting new opportunity to join Whitehaven. The Lead – Hygiene will support the Health & Safety team to develop and maintain Group wide systems and programs that set minimum expectations and provide clarity and subject matter expertise to operations and projects related to workplace exposure management and control.

This role will be based in our corporate Brisbane office with regular monthly site travel across NSW and QLD.

 

What You’ll do

Providing oversight to WHC operations the role will deliver:

  • Assurance that WHC is well positioned to maintain compliance with dynamic regulatory requirements across NSW and QLD jurisdictions
  • A shared vision and commitment to an industry-leading health and hygiene program
  • Subject matter expertise across our business, maturing the business’ risk based approach to workplace exposure management
  • Provide occupational hygiene principles to anticipate, recognise and control hazards as well as provide control solutions that inform HSE business planning, and evaluate the success of these controls.
  • Ensure compliance to dynamic regulatory frameworks through ongoing analysis of lead/lag indicators to inform HSE business planning
  • Development and coordination of data informed hygiene sampling and monitoring programs, and improvement strategies
  • Governance over the hygiene monitoring programs and reporting
  • Close and supportive relationships with operations ensuring best practice hygiene management is championed and prioritised
  • Leads WHC with representation at relevant regional regulatory and industry forums on matters related to occupational hygiene

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Hygiene
  • Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH) or equivalent e.g. CIH
  • Knowledge of WHST legislation and statutory requirements in NSW and QLD
  • Experience in Occupational Hygiene roles and heavy industry / mining is preferred
  • Experience in developing and leading project and program delivery is preferred
  • Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in the development and execution of project planning and execution in relation to improving occupational hygiene programs and outcomes
