ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.
We have immediate opportunities for skilled people to undertake world-leading training in the United States (U.S),setting you up for a secure career back home in the nuclear-powered submarine program – Australia’s largest-ever industrial endeavour. You will have access to cutting edge training in Pearl Harbor (Hawaii) for 2-3 years, with some roles completing placements at other locations throughout the USA during the full course of the assignment.
Role & Responsibilities Working in Radiological Controls you will: conduct radiation surveys, implement control procedures related to transport/storage/treatment of radiological waste, monitoring of equipment, recommend changes to improve controls/correct deficiencies/increase efficiency; and you will ensure adherence to the radiological control requirements. You will be immersed into the United States Navy processes, procedures and working on the Virginia Class systems in Pearl Harbour or other U.S locations. You will also undertake a combination of instructor led classroom-based training and on the job learning.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines. Please note this is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
Eligibility Criteria The successful person will possess:
Must be able to hold an NV1 Security Clearance. This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
